Two New LA-based Literary Magazines

Black Lily Zine and Currant Jam are two new literary publications, both of which focus on print editions over online presence.

Currant Jam is a seasonally produced, full-color, full-gloss magazine. They accept fiction, poetry, and essays, along with music, visual art, and film. In addition, Currant Jam hosts readings, film screenings, workshops, art shows. Created by Marie Claire Marchant, Brooke Hallie Metayer, Emily Ann Zisko, and Olivia Aquilina, CJ’s manifesto states that they are “a print magazine in today’s day in age, as an artist’s shelter in an ever growing digital jungle.”

Black Lily is a new print-only, low tech, minimal web presence goth/punk inspired zine created by Beth Gilstrap (Deadheading & Other Stories, Red Hen Press) and Troy Palmer (formerly of Little Fiction).
